Powerful features

Best-in-class in triangle optimization

The first step in optimizing is to apply triangle reduction. This applies to the source master model, and does not need direct involvement from the visualization team working with the viewer/engine, as the optimized geometries are swapped in instead of the original geometries in an automatic fashion. By dramatically reducing the triangle count, the geometric transformation and rasterization bottlenecks are removed from the final visualization, thereby opening up for other optimization opportunities.

Selective refinement

After triangle optimization, automatic refinement of important parts is applied for more granular control and fine-tuning. This can be applied to logos, high-gloss materials, etc. The selection system is fully open, and can be based on material properties, visual metrics or pre-existing meta-data. The artist is allowed full control over the process, and is able to override any data-part or piece of the optimization pipeline.

 

Proxy assemblies geometry replacement - New UVs, normal maps and material IDs

Simplygon's remeshing system replaces parts or full sub-assemblies with a new and highly optimized 3D proxy asset. Proxies dramatically reduce the total number of objects and triangles that must be transformed and rendered. This makes it possible to retarget the visualization data to lower performing platforms, or visualize assemblies that are too complex for the current platform.

Material LOD generates texture coordinates for an object or scene, and casts texture data on to it. All materials in a scene can be baked to one or more target materials to reduce the number of draw calls and optimize the texture usage. By generating a normal map and global illumination that covers the model, the shading of the meshes are very similar.
